Actually, when I started to bird, my second ever duck, after the Mallard, was a Ruddy Shelduck! Soon, I found three large ducks on the water, but as soon as I come closer, they took flight, like proper wild ducks. Long-eared Owl* Harlequin Duck* Connecticut Warbler* Alder Flycatcher. Le Conte’s Sparrow – 15 Dec 2012 – This was a self-found life bird at Edgemere Landfill that, frustratingly, did not show up for the Queens Christmas Bird Count the next day. The only downside is that it was a female.
