Arizona, or Central Mexico?

All sorts of exotic and beautiful species may be seen. This would sound attractive even to me, except for one fact: almost all of those exotic and beautiful species are common down here in central Mexico. Southeastern Arizona is unusual, precisely because its species mix is as much Mexican as it is American.

His parents moved where opportunity beckoned, taking him from San Angelo, Texas, to Columbus, New Mexico, then to Dallas, and finally on to California. Again, Cade led with solid evidence acquired through his own research. It was there where the first glimpse of his future began. And grow they did.

I might have to add the Dallas airport staff to the list of things Buffon was right about. Our internet research showed that somebody in Pine County had all three ( Black, Brown-capped, and Gray-crowned ) Rosy Finches on the feeders in their garden. My hosts could confidently tick off the species on their life list.

The Littel Big Year – Week 45: Wrapping up the Bahamas

We also got an extra stop in Dallas, Texas (Hey wasn’t I just here) but again no birds could be added, unless I count the House Sparrow flying around inside the terminal. By the time we had ended our visit on the island, I had racked up a total of 58 birds species, with 27 of them new birds on the Little Big Year list.
