In the past decade, for instance, we have doled out more than $3 billion in direct subsidies to large-scale livestock producers. Since our food is delivered to us on a bun or in big bags of frozen parts, it’s easy to eat it and not think about what it was or how it was killed. I look forward to casting my vote for compassion.
