When referring to cats, dogs and horses of unknown sex, the children would randomly assign sex, with the conventionally "prettier" animals being called "she." We do that with cats and dogs already, right? Tags: Books Ethics Language parenting publishing speciesism veganism. That makes sense to me. I'm a terrible fiction writer.
