The festival is now in its 16 th year in the quaint-yet-vibrant town of Fallon, Nevada (about an hour east of Reno), and it draws on the wide array of birds that flock to the area during spring migration. There is also a bit of science thrown in–bird banding, remote sensing, museum collecting–not everything, but enough to give the beginner a taste of the ornithological side of the birding passion. Floyd’s writing style draws the reader in, including us in his experiences and observations, making the personal communal.
