This is partly due to hunting in China, where about 90% of the species winter (HBW). Not always terrible – ok if you are in business class, or you catch it yourself. Like fast food, but free and likely more healthy. And it does not even live in reeds. A Vega-type Gull enjoys an in-flight meal.
