With the geese rediscovered, an intensive campaign to remove introduced foxes began, and many geese were relocated from Buldir Island to islands they formerly inhabited. Brown Pelicans are not an unusual sight on the California coast. Three other endemic bird species promptly went extinct, and by 1911 as few as 11 ducks remained.
