Mountain Plover, California. 2018 was a good year for Mountain Plover in California, with a congregation (that is what you call a flock of plovers, says the Internets) seen regularly in Antelope Valley from early November on. So, I was excited to read reports in late 2017 of a pair of Whooping Cranes being seen on a cattle farm.
