Though these plovers are common on the North Norfolk coast, their nearest breeding grounds are far to the north. A few do breed in Europe, on the extreme north-east of European Russia. These were dark-bellied birds from Russia. In Britain, wildlife spectacles don’t get much better than that. Pinkfooted Geese.
