Males of this species are more brightly colored in their non-breeding winter plumage. Another near-endemic, shared only with tiny Lesotho and Swaziland is the bizarre Southern Bald Ibis. My final bird for this post is another of my favorites, the Ground Woodpecker. A dancing Blue Crane , South Africa’s national bird.
