Third of all, the bird that was first seen on 30 October is, as of this blog posting, STILL THERE!

White-faced Ibis at Colusa National Wildlife Refuge

Being winter, this bird is in non-breeding plumage with more brown upper parts and lacking the white face it acquires in its aternate (breeding) plumage. juvenile Parasitic Jaeger by Larry Jordan Jochen enjoyed a plover : My Best Bird of the Year is a White-tailed Lapwing I “twitched” in Germany in June. This year I watched them from the day they arrived , until two chicks successfully hatched, the northernmost breeding record for the species.
