Fortunately, Black-crowned Night Heron s are quite common in Shanghai, though apparently endangered in Illinois ( source ). The website then hastens to add that “Unfortunately, there isn’t much scientific research on the poop of the upland buzzard” I bet some ornithology students do not find this particularly unfortunate.
