The Pantanal is a vast, seasonally flooded wetland — the largest in the world — in the southwest corner of the state of Mato Grosso in Brazil. Screamers are most closely related to waterfowl such as ducks and geese. Crossing them was like taking a leap of faith each time. Alas, it was over too soon.
