Thomas Mitchell had a brutal history of killing Aboriginal people, and in 2023 Birdlife International and the Royal Australasian Ornithologist’s Union officially renamed the bird. It is co-branded with the Natural History Museum of London, whose collections are the source of the artwork. A little late, but very well done.
