Since then, the majority of my guests became birders and wildlife photographers. About the same time, I made another dream come true, and started offering wildlife watching and photography boat tours at the lake. Other important breeding species include Black and White Stork , Lesser Spotted , White-tailed , and Booted Eagle.

In mid-December, I was birding along the Beljarica levee (Beh-LYAH-ritza), my local patch north of Belgrade, when something other than birds attracted my attention: three wild boars , appearing all black because they had just swam through the swamp to reach the bottom of the levee. I think all were males, at last two huge ones certainly were.

In the morning, still sleepy, we enter the jungle, where a sounder of Indian Boars (a long-maned subspecies Sus scrofa cristatus ) is watching us, standing among the first trees, right next to the road. To Nitin, this was a recce trip for his new wildlife photography tours enterprise. One White-eyed Buzzard has turned its back to us.
