I suspect that many readers of this blog are Christians but not vegetarians. It would be argued that to suppose that a bird’s life is less valuable than a human life is a form of speciesism, a doctrine of prejudice analogous to racism and sexism. I read Martin’s essay only recently, having discovered it by accident.
