I was going to change Animal Person to Vegan Atheist 40+ Parenting and come back to blogging. Doesn't have a ring to it at all, but a young man at Whole Foods yesterday called himself an "animal person" while ordering a roast beef wrap and I thought: Note to self-must change blog name if going to resume blogging.

She eats eggs for their protein. She knows going vegan is the right thing to do. She has said she wants to go vegan and knows it's the right thing to do, but she doesn't want to replace the problems she already has with new ones (she sort of has a handle on them now). Help Cristy go vegan. She's so close. Any suggestions?

I've been out of every loop I used to be in because my work outside of veganism and animal rights came a-calling in a most critical way. I haven't been able to blog, or, I haven't made it a priority. And my disappointment over vegan-on-vegan hate has found an unlikely peer in atheist-on-agnostic (and -on-believer) hate.

I haven't had time to blog--or even to work out daily like I used to--but that doesn't mean I don't read all my e-mails and go to every link everyone sends me. Every day, some people make the switch to entirely plant-based vegan diets. How many people know, e.g., that University of Chicago researchers have reported that by switching to a vegan diet, a person can reduce her/his carbon footprint by 1.5 While by no means optimistic, I'm certainly less pessimistic than Ausubel.

I suspect that many readers of this blog are Christians but not vegetarians. Two varieties of moral vegetarianism can be distinguished: lactovo moral vegetarianism and vegan moral vegetarianism. Lactovo and vegan moral vegetarianism can be subdivided into what might be called new and old or traditional moral vegetarianism.
