ARUBA — Of all the places that I’ve had the privilege to bird, Aruba is probably has the poorest birding coverage. None of the things that really lend themselves to high bird diversity. It’s a good bird, but there are a small handful of other records. For starters, it’s small. And really windy.

Outside of hardcore twitchers looking for specialty birds and after speaking to thousands and thousands of birders, I have concluded that most people really do not put much emphasis on our prairies. Here in Colorado many species are affected, but perhaps none more than our beautiful Mountain Plovers and Ferruginous Hawks.

This property is also a site with vernal pools and uses cattle grazing for vegetation control. Nesting habitat use by Burrowing Owls in Colorado. The other two tunnels dead end inside the nesting chamber. The inspection tubes are attached to the lids and reach to the soil surface, then the entire trench is backfilled. v=TG4HxJ0pIp0.

It’s September and time for birds to start their southerly journeys. Please remember to give migrating birds the space that they need. Jason hoisted his colours in Kansas and claimed the state for 10,000 Birds. In an unusual turnaround during September, more birds were seen in USA than in Costa Rica. 28 Sep 2018.
