This image is from Bwindi Impenetrable Gorilla National Park, Uganda. Well, the answer is that the moniker Red-headed Barbet was first given to the South American species that still bears and thus it had precedence to retain the name. Gray-throated Barbet is one of the plainer members of the African Barbet family.
