It prompted a lot of questions, many of which I had previously answered by simple supposition and presumption, but which now became highlighted as inadequate in the light of this experience. How many well sites does a sapsucker maintain? How often does he do the rounds? Does he vigorously defend his food source? The sapsucker was seen first.
