Apparently, when breeding, the two parents divide incubation duties, with one bird taking over the daytime duties and another one the nighttime. At between 4 pm and 6 pm, to be exact. Of course, many people still know exactly what they did when this happened. A kingfisher with a somewhat deficient work ethic, I guess. Or speluncaphobia?
