California’s Autumn Seas

Fall is the transition season, and for a while I used to be the transition guy, linking up the crazy summer seabird season on the Farallon Islands with the slightly more laid back fall landbird and shark season there. Under the surface we could sea Oceanic Sunfish and Blue Sharks. A Pigeon Guillemot late in the season.

Sea Snakes of Northern Australia

By plumage and distribution, they can very roughly be divided into 2 groups (probably not reflecting taxonomic relations): One group inhabits central Asia ( personata ), the mountains of southern Asia ( alboides ), central East Asia ( leucopsis ) and the Pacific coast from the southern half of Kamchatka to Japan ( lugens ).
