I actually have many targets, in a way, a I want to see lots and lots, but there is one species that the reason that the trip is even happening, the animal that has been pretty much the top of my animal bucket list for well over a decade. My animal bucket list hasn’t changed much either, for similar reasons.

Its amazing to me that there are still places on earth where wildlife is blissfully unafraid of humans. It comes as no surprise that this was one of Jacques Cousteau’s favorite places and he filmed the area and its wildlife extensively for his tv series. Swimming with a whale shark on the boat-trip to Isla Isabel.

Even people with no other interest in wildlife, who couldn’t tell a sparrow from an ostrich (or even a dolphin from a fish) love dolphins. Dolphins are basically just smart sharks that breath air. Like I said, at least the sharks are honest in their sharky ways. Which has always mystified me slightly.

Now this, might not sound like anything of particular ground-breaking significance, but in the context of animal personality research, it is a fairly big thing. Dale studied scarlet macaws, and worked in their conservation, for three years in southern Costa Rica, followed by a year in the Caribbean working on Whale Sharks.
