IFAW rescuers have mobilized to Japan

Rescuers from the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW – www.ifaw.org ) have mobilized to Japan to conduct an assessment and assist with animal rescue efforts following the devastating earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan. This will allow IFAW and NARSC colleagues to identify long-term animal relief projects in Japan.

Each cub weighs between six and seven pounds, and is currently being monitored around the clock by the park’s animal care team. The births are part of park’s partnership in the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) Species Survival Plan® (SSP). The species also often comes into conflict with people over livestock predation.
