We have a request, and it's an issue I've written about a handful of times but never had this particular question answered by readers: How do you talk with your vet--who is against feeding your dog vegan food--about your choice to do so? I'm fortunate to have a regular (non-specialist) vet who has no problem at all with a vegan diet for dogs.

Greyhound skin is very thin. The greyhound people tell you that, not to mention it's pretty obvious. Vetsulin was the perfect new product, except for the fact that it's animal (pig) based, unlike human insulins, and then there was the problem with quality control that was first reported last year. What a relief!

Just in case you were wondering what an 85-lb red fawn greyhound looks like from the back with a couple dozen acupuncture needles in him. But I would feel like a terrible caregiver if animal protein was somehow the answer and I refused to try it. The needles between his toes were apparently not of the painless variety. I've had those.
