Farm Sanctuary Wary about Tom Vilsack for USDA

While the Humane Society was pretty happy with Vilsack as Obama's pick for the Department of Agriculture, the Farm Sanctuary is wary. Barack Obama has picked Tom Vilsack, former Governor of Iowa, to be the next Secretary of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Bauer is the president and co-founder of the Farm Sanctuary.

President Obama has added 10 new refuges in his first term. As a result, animals like the Florida panther and diminishing habitats like the prairie grasslands stand a fighting chance. In some cases, large portions of, or entire Wildlife Refuges are closed to the non-hunting public during this time.
