Over 3 million pairs of Antarctic Fur Seals breed on South Georgia, saved from near extinction by fur hunters. Southern Elephant Seals and Weddell Seals are also resident, though not in such large numbers. There are eleven types of plant habitats, including Bog, Mire, and four kinds of grasslands.
