I live in Seattle and I am always skeptical of how the UW treats its lab animals. Full story in the Seattle Times. says only about 13 percent of the pediatric-residency programs in the United States use animals for such training. I had never heard of the use of ferrets in medical research though. News to me.

This is not totally animal-related, but I'll share anyway. It's not as well-educated, sophisticated, healthy or well-off. And my husband thinks so too, and he's from Seattle. On an animal note, I will say that the treatment of animals is very bad in the Central Valley.
