As we humans are animals, like birds are, it often seems to make more sense to me to assume that their and our drivers are similar, not different. Of course, we humans tend to give slightly elevated terms to our motives – but that does not generally mean that they are really different from those of other animals. Birds, maybe?

An afternoon in the Madikwe Game Reserve, South Africa

A little further, there’s a family group of Savannah Elephants with two two-year olds. This game reserve has 900 elephants – the second largest population in South Africa, after the Kruger National Park with 13,000. The others follow, some dozen animals in all. Barn Owl on a dry tree trunk and a… traffic jam!

Birding the Kruger Park (1): Skukuza area

Inside the camps, you are allowed to walk around freely – outside, this privilege is reserved for the animals. A Barn Owl slept peacefully on the inside of the roof of a well-visited tourist cafe. It warned me not to order the latte though – overpriced and not very good, according to the owl.
