Can we talk about Cecil the Lion?

This is of course an anathema for many in the animal rights camp. I’m not unsympathetic to concerns about animal welfare, really. If tourists are too dim to tell Sierra Leone from Botswana or Tanzania, do we really want to rely on them to save Africa’s species? So we do the best we can with what we have.
