Given my west coast experience, I have made dedicated birding trips to several of the more predictable birding hotspots. Geography is destiny.

A pretty major front was supposed to make its way over New York City in the wee hours so we decided to play it by ear and call each other early in the morning and figure out if the weather would be decent enough to go out at all and, if so, where we would go.
