I get my own idea of the lunacy of Gooddie’s quest when I talk to a friend who has birded Asia and Africa. If it were just the birds, I’d grab my bins and be on the next plane to Asia or Africa. The books work best when the birding is coupled with the human element. There go my plans for a 10,000 Birds write-in campaign.
