I haven't examined each institutionalized use of animals the way that Dunayer has, with the possible exception of vivisection, and I learned a lot about the details of the language of each industry. By pairing humane with slaughter , legislators have sanctioned horrific cruelty and mass murder.

However, the solution they have created, which harkens back to before industrialized agriculture, is simply to still raise animals for their flesh and secretions, and for profit, but to do it the old-fashioned way. A violation of trust or confidence, an abandonment of something committed to one's charge. No argument here.
