In 2012 , the NFC revised some of its goals and set forth a new vision of waterfowl management that emphasized a core of hunter and conservationist supporters. Nationally, most birdwatching occurred in California (9%), followed by New York (6%), Texas (5%), Pennsylvania (5%), Florida (5%), and Ohio (4%).

I also appreciated the occasional photo of a birder (or birders or photographers) photographing vagrants, including the well-circulated one of hundreds of photographers in Beijing gathering in a semi-circle to photograph a Japanese Robin in November 2012. The two men have co-authored several previous articles on avian vagrancy.
