I grew up in one of the most beautiful cities in the world – Cape Town, South Africa. In fact, there is no other region in Africa that offers such a fantastic level of endemism in such an accessible location. An African Penguin peers protectively around its fluffy chick. In 2009 the population was recorded as 20,699 pairs.
