In December 2005 a 50-foot, 50-ton, female humpback whale got tangled in crab lines and was in danger of drowning. Tika and her longtime mate, Kobuk, had raised eight litters of puppies together and were enjoying their retirement years in the home of my friend, Anne. A Grateful Whale. As we all know, dogs are “man’s best friend.”
