I haven’t found any articles on Atlantic Coast birds being injured by these dangerous mussels (which are also not very tasty to humans), so I’m thinking that our birds somehow know better. And, that ribbed mussels are only a threat in areas where they are invasive and birds don’t have this innate knowledge.
