Concerns surround the ethics of the process, the welfare of the animals and a lack of research on food safety. If this policy is adopted, European farms could be populated by cloned supersize animals used as breeding stock for cows, pigs and sheep that are reared for food. Many die in the womb or soon after birth.

Scientific research and expertise are needed here. Clearly, cows, pigs, sheep, chickens, and fish do not consent to being eaten. If they have a right to life because they have a self-concept, they surely also have a right to die and the right to suffer pain in the process if they desire. But recall that shmoos want to be eaten.
