Some people think it’s just plain fun to kill enormous numbers of animals and pile up their bodies, and when there’s no “bag limit” it’s legal to do so. Obviously killing contests have nothing to do with traditional hunting, and “animal abuse” is normally used when describing domestic animals.

MEXICO CITY – Animal rights activists staged a protest against the sale of pets in Mexico City, urging residents to adopt dogs and other animals instead of buying them. Twelve activists took part in the demonstration organized by the AnimaNaturalis group Tuesday at the iconic Juarez monument on one of the capital’s main streets.

The animal rights movement is (rightly) closely associated with protesting things like factory farming, dogfighting, etc…basically, the mistreatment of animals. What I don’t understand is why animal rights organizations almost completely ignore wildlife. This makes perfect sense. The logic of this is ridiculous.

However, both his perceptions and misconceptions are based on: 1) observing the work of PeTA and HSUS; and 2) the assumption that those two organizations are in the same category--"animal rights." Again, they just want to prevent the "cruel" hunters from killing Bambi's mother. First of all, does he really believe that piffle?

of Fish and Wildlife Commissioner Jon Gassett has indicated that if enough people write in protest, the proposed hunting season–due to start this December– will be reconsidered. Kills in Canada, Alaska and Mexico are not included in the count. Kentucky Dept. Tennessee found that out in January.

Not only are they killed in cruel ways, but it is well documented that they are raised in ways that cause them great discomfort and agony. Becoming a vegetarian is the most practical and effective step one can take towards [sic; kbj] ending both the killing of non-human [sic; kbj] animals and the infliction of suffering upon them.

My original blogroll included people/organizations that informed my journey and it brought me much criticism and labeled me a "new welfarist" and brought me all kinds of grief. I understand the impulse to do " something " that alters the number of animals created to be used and killed and the suffering of the ones created.
