With a picture of the then-queen of Thailand on it, if I remember correctly. The Oriental Darter is classified as Near Threatened – the reasons are the usual ones: habitat loss, hunting, and pollution. Tiphys died either of a snakebite or of a mysterious illness but he was not killed by either a tiger or a rhinoceros.
