On "Pets" and "Its"

I went back to New York to the areas where I grew up and went to college and graduate school for a five-day weekend. The reason we need to save the gorillas and their habitats (it's a book on gorilla "conservation") is--and this is from memory so there could be more--that gorillas have thumbs, just like humans do.
