Study Shows Shorter Life Spans for Zoo Elephants

Steve Feldman of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums questioned the credibility of the Science report because it used data from 1960 when zoo husbandry practices were considered sub-standard. The Nonessential Whooping Crane

Over the winter, the universe lost four whooping cranes to what appears to be recreational shooting: three gunned down together in Georgia on December 30, 2010, and another in Alabama on January 28, 2011. It gives one to wonder why this designation was made. Another 170 are in captivity, many of them breeding stock for reintroduction efforts.
