When I started blogging, I thought that if more people sought out free-range, grass-fed "beef," more animals would be saved/fewer would be created. I understand the impulse to do " something " that alters the number of animals created to be used and killed and the suffering of the ones created. But I don't think that's the norm.

If human beings were confined, mutilated and killed, would we call it “humane” if the cages were a few inches bigger, the knife sharper, the death faster?
