Very little information was available at the time, so we hired a car and off we went, following the few tips we had managed to gather but mostly our noses. According to the World Bank, up to 80 percent of Ghana’s forests had been destroyed by illegal logging by 2008. And wow, what a trip we had! million hectares in 2007.
