In " 'Animal Rights:' Pernicious Nonsense for Both Law & Public Policy ," Massachusetts attorney and "sportsman" Richard Latimer is on the mark with some concepts, and way off with others. Now, I know you're saying: That's not what animal rights is. It has absolutely nothing to do with any genuine environmentalist ethic.

As for categories, I never got that one right, either. It facilitates discussion when the most recent comments are right there on the home page and all you have to do is click on them to chime in. I didn't do the right thing for Animal Person. Every blogger's goal is to have their blog read, right? But I didn't.

Not only are they killed in cruel ways, but it is well documented that they are raised in ways that cause them great discomfort and agony. It is certainly likely that a similar phenomenon would occur if vegan vegetarianism became a widespread movement in the U.S. Certainly, not eating meat could have this protest function.
