This rescue is the result of a PETA undercover investigation. The raid followed an undercover investigation by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. That's HUGE. It was an exotic animal importing firm (why the eff do those even exist?) that was allegedly mistreating its animals. From the Detroit Free Press.
