His passion and compassion for humans is immense, but he appears to have some kind of mental block with nonhuman animals. I suppose speciesism/human exceptionalism is at the heart of the matter. Essentially, industrialized farming=soulless, small family farm=soulful. The New York Times ' Nicholas D. Kristof frustrates me.

And the reverse is true: If parents are unaware, it should be no surprise that whatever compassion or sense of justice a child has is not nurtured. We can either bombard the publishing industry with proposals for books for kids, or we can create a publishing company ourselves for this specific purpose. I'm a terrible fiction writer.
