All animals except the dog are called "it" (I did a little experiment to see what would happen). When referring to cats, dogs and horses of unknown sex, the children would randomly assign sex, with the conventionally "prettier" animals being called "she." We do that with cats and dogs already, right?

This includes horses, cats and cows. However, I have to disagree with page 78's: "Will a cat comfort you when you are sad? My experience says otherwise (particularly with my childhood kitty, Brady), but generally speaking Masson's depiction of cats is accurate. Yes, there's a vegan message.
