Ruminants are four-footed, hoofed, even-toed, cud-chewing mammals with four stomachs.

People would often express surprise that I, someone that cared about wildlife conservation, would eat meat. New Zealand has been the recipient of a higher than average number of introduced species, in particular a range of mammals from elk to mice. Not from an environmental perspective but from a “don’t you like animals?”
