Whales emerge from within the larger group of mammals that includes cattle, deer, pigs, camels, with camels being the most deeply rooted. (So So pigs are camels, as you probably already suspected.) Birds have a number of features that distinguish them from, say, camels. Nor do camels. Cows do not.

These harvested cells are taken from an animal, such as a pig, and placed in a "nutrient-rich medium" that mimics blood. Earlier this year, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals announced that it will offer a $1 million X Prize for the creation of affordable, humane, and "commercially viable" test-tube meat by 2012.
